Can you believe it, literature fans? Nexus #100 is here at last.

Rude Dude Productions is proud to announce the release of Nexus #100, the landmark issue to beat them all, is at last ready for solicitation.

What’s all the fuss about in the long awaited, oversized edition of Nexus 100? In addition to the 23-page main story feature, Nexus 100 contains the first fully-painted Steve Rude art ever done for a comic story! “When She was Young,” Part II, an eleven-page Sundra Peale story that takes place at the beginning of Sundra’s career and reveals her first meeting with the notorious and treacherous—ah, long time fans will guess! But for now we’ll keep you in suspense! Baron and Rude consider this a thought-provoking piece of graphic literature with all their usual trademarks that marks their sense of what makes comics fun to read.

PLUS a brand new 12-page feature, “The History of Nexus” by Bill Baker. See how it all began! Early, previously unseen Nexus art! The crew from all 3 Nexus publishers tell all! Readers new and old to Nexus will find this feature an invaluable resource for decades to come.

Please note this is a resolicitation of this special issue. With an increased page count beyond what was originally solicited, Steve added yet more extra features to make Nexus 100 a truly momentous event. In order to expedite the arrival of this issue, we have chosen to eliminate the previously solicited posters, birth certificate and scratch and win cards. Heck–we’ll do those next time!

Please, when is it coming? My wonderful girl Sarah obtained for me the ashcan #100 (signed by the Dude to me:) but when do I get the real thing? I walked the 15 blocks to the comic shop during my lunch break every new release day for 4 months… haven’t I walked enough?

I only discovered Nexus when he met Madman, and then Nightmare in Blue was so cool! I colored it myself with watercolor! and then nothing till June last year, I almost unstuck myself in time, i was so excited! You’ve got a reader for life as long as you give me stuff to read! I love your series and can’t hardly wait for more of it (i’m almost out of back issues).

Anyway, the ashcan was super cool. I can’t wait to see it in color, and to read #101, and though I’m frustrated by the delay, I appreciate the commitment that is put into the work, and I intend to be in a seated position when I look at When She Was Young (part 2).

p.s. I got Artist in Motion in the mail yesterday, and one of my favorite parts was seeing the cover and pages from the other Nexus #98. I’d been wondering if we’d see Plexus again. Any chance of seeing the rest of the issue? It looked terrific, even if the story isn’t going there anymore.

    Thanks for the stories,

    Jake Ivan

    Jake,

The wait is nearly over. Steve’s had quite a battle with this series. The painted story inside the issue took him nearly 7 months to complete.

Steve battles depression and oftentimes the medication leaves him too tired to work. Just the past few weeks he’s been battling fatigue due to a thyroid medication he was put on.

We’re literally down to waiting for him to finish the cover. We’re hoping to have it completed by Monday (Jan 21st). In that case it will ship to Diamond on January 28th for an in stores date of February 6th.

    Jake,

I read your letter and felt a personal response was in order.

The reason for Nexus #100′s tardiness is due entirely to myself. I have mental health issues that have all but sabotaged my once “normal” state. I’ve dealt with this condition most of my adult life and can only hope that this state will repair itself in time.

Hope that #100 will measure up to the long wait.

    Sincerely,

    Steve Rude

Another update. The print run received from Brenner was unacceptable and they are reprinting, but not without a fuss. Hopefully they will go to press this week for an in stores date of February 20.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Phoenix, Arizona – February 10, 2008 –

After receiving an absolutely unacceptable printing from Brenner, we are having them redo it. Assuming they don’t drag their heels, we’re looking at a Diamond pickup on February 18th for a February 27th in store date.

Steve was embarrassed that the print run has been so delayed, but decided that he would be even more embarrassed if the printing left his paintings looking muddy.

Thank you again for your support and we sincerely hope the 56 page Nexus 100 is worth the wait.
If you’re waiting for the trade, expect it early 2009.
